Acute Otitis Media (Acute ear infection)

Common infection of the ear, involving the middle ear space and the tympanic membrane, caused by viruses or bacteria. Common symptoms are pain and conductive hearing loss. In some cases, the pus filling the middle ear space, induces a small rupture of the ear drum, through which the ear discharges purulent fluid. With appropriate treatment, symptoms subside quickly and the perforation heals automatically in a few days.
