Dr Kakouri was born in Athens. In 1991 she graduated from the Medical School of University of Patra, Greece.

From 1992 to 1994 she worked as a resident in General Surgery at the Tripoli General Hospital. At the same hospital she started her specialty training in Otorhinolaryngology (1994-1997), which was concluded at the Otorhinolaryngology Department of Tzaneion General Hospital in Pireus in 2000. In the same year she successfully completed the board examination procedure and was granted the specialty title of Otorhinolaryngologist-Head and Neck Surgeon.

From 2001 to 2004 she worked as Consultant at the Otorhinolaryngology Department of Metropolitan Hospital, Athens. In 2004 she was promoted to Associate Senior Consultant and continued to work at the same Hospital until 2010.

Since 2010 she works as visiting Consultant at Metropolitan Hospital and Vioiatriki Hospital of Pireus.
